Culture

Salanda’s culture is deeply intertwined with its Jewish heritage, reflected in both its religion and cuisine. The state religion is Judaism though Salanda is open to all religious practices, and Salandarians are known for their strong religious observance and synagogue attendance. Traditional Jewish foods like chicken soup are considered national dishes, highlighting the cultural fusion between faith and daily life. National symbols like the collared dove, representing peace, and the orange fruit and tree, symbolizing one of Salanda’s national colors, emphasize values of harmony and identity. The country’s flag—featuring orange, white, and orange stripes with a yellow sun, two myrtle branches, and a red diamond—represents Salanda’s uniqueness and the importance of peace, rarity, and natural beauty.

Language

Salanda is multilingual, with English serving as the primary working language, while Hebrew, Spanish, and the constructed Salandan language hold ceremonial or cultural roles. Salandarians use four calendars to reflect the diversity of national life: the Gregorian for everyday use, the Hebrew for religious purposes, the Salandarian for cultural affairs, and the Tuse calendar for autonomous regions. Music holds a special place in Salandan society, with the Salanda National Symphony Orchestra, founded in 2022, serving as a key institution promoting the arts. The orchestra’s debut piece, Midnight’s Rain, reflects Salanda’s appreciation for soft and emotional expression through music.
